Auto Glass Care in Pierre, South Dakota
Between gravel roads and hail, glass takes a beating in central South Dakota. We handle windshield and window replacement alongside the rest of our auto body work.
Gravel is relentless on windshields
Follow a truck on a section road and you will eventually take a stone. A chip smaller than a quarter can usually be filled and stabilized before it goes anywhere.
Leave it and the first hard cold morning finishes it. Run the defroster full against glass at twenty below and the thermal shock runs that chip clean across the screen. That is the difference between a small repair and a full windshield, and it is often a matter of weeks.
The camera behind the mirror
Vehicles from roughly the last decade mount a forward-facing camera to the windshield feeding lane departure warning and automatic emergency braking. Replacing the glass moves that camera and it needs recalibrating afterward.
A camera aimed slightly wrong throws no fault code. It simply misjudges distance. We establish whether your vehicle requires calibration rather than handing it back and assuming.
Hail and side glass
Severe storms take out back glass and side windows as well as denting panels. Tempered side glass shatters into fragments that work into every seam inside a door, and getting all of it out is most of the labor on that job.
Cure time
Urethane needs its full cure before the vehicle is safe to drive. We will tell you when it is ready rather than trimming it to suit a pickup time.
