Restoration starts underneath

Before anyone talks about color, the vehicle goes up and we look at what is actually there. Prairie vehicles that have sat in a shelterbelt or a machine shed for twenty years hide a lot below the beltline. Floors, lower quarters, cab corners, and the inside of rockers tell the real story.

Better to learn the scope at the start than halfway through with the budget committed. Sometimes the honest answer is that a different donor vehicle is a cheaper route to the same result, and we will say so.

Bare metal is the honest starting point

For a proper job the vehicle comes back to clean metal, which is where our blasting equipment earns its place. Building a show finish on top of whatever was already there is how expensive paint fails in three years.

Choosing a color

Bring photographs, a chip, or a vehicle you saw. Candies, pearls, and flake shift with viewing angle and with how heavily they are laid down, so we spray cards and look at them outdoors under prairie light rather than trusting a chart.

Show trucks and driven classics

Not every project needs concours standards. A pickup that will be driven to shows in summer wants sound metal and durable paint. Something headed for judging is a different budget, and worth being clear about which you are building.
